Institute for Default Research

The science. IDR owns the instrument and everything that makes its numbers mean something: methodology, validation, and the dataset the conversations produce. If a claim comes out of this lab, IDR is where it was earned.

The mandate

The mandate is proof. IDR maintains the instrument the way a standards laboratory maintains a reference weight: models are versioned, changes are published as findings, and no result is ever re-stamped after the fact. Its standing work is the unglamorous kind — validation against established instruments, test–retest stability, cross-conversation correlation — because the lab's entire claim on the world's attention is that its numbers mean what the methodology says they mean. Where the evidence is thin, IDR's job is to say so first, in print, before anyone else has to.
